Good, long-lasting logos are embedded into our memory banks everyday, from FedEx to Mcdonalds or Google to BBC. If you reckon yourself to be a brand identity wizz kid you can test yourself against this iphone & ipod Touch app – Guess The Logo.
From the initial screens of the game this doesn’t look like the ridiculously easy logo test that was expected. You have got to know the logo down to the last serif and kern. Release that branding nerd inside of you!

New Visa television advert starring Bill Shannon, brought to us by Saatchi & Saatchi. Music by Don Thomas published by Valentine Music.

Was pointed in the direction of this link by my brother and found it too good not to post. This has got to be my favourtie site to fall into since the start of the year, TV Ark is and online museum for TV adverts, Idents and television shows.
‘The site is intended as a tribute to the work of television presentation and graphics, and to preserve a slice of our social history. Through images and video clips, we present those modest little chunks of television that are never repeated: idents, programme promotions, opening title sequences, public information films, commercials, daily start-ups and closedowns, break bumpers and station clocks. Each item is accompanied by a short written analysis and review’- TV Ark
There is so much choice on this site I did not know where to start. The only down point about the collection is the ability to view the videos, they don’t stream so you have to download them and watch them on Real Player. All good ay?
Happy viewing!
Earlier I was told that today was the most depressing day of the year (hence why it was so quiet at work)… I’m not too sure how true that was although my alarm didn’t wake me up in time, the Northern line was at it’s worst yet since I started living in London and I did have walk through the rain this morning. But now everything has changed thanks to the ever faithful SwissMiss blog. At first I thought this was for something else but I won’t spoil it for you, this was filmed at 11am on Thursday 15th January 2009 at Liverpool Street station, London.
No where near my work.

I believe it has been a long time waiting for someone to speak out about this… and thank goodness for Mark over at the CR blog and his post ‘Change the record’. If you have no idea what I’m talking about then just turn on your TV and watch a few adverts. Over the past number of years you would’ve come across a lot of quaint folky songs being played along a commercial for numerous global products, the most recent culprit being Audi.
This fad has been running for some time and has been getting away with it. I would be very surprised if people hadn’t even noticed and were just sucked into it, but over at CR they have raised the question – ‘When will it end?’. Invited to the discussion are Dan Stevens, a director at music PR and management company, Darling Department; Parv Thind, sound designer at Wave; and Peter Raeburn, founder and creative director of music production company, Soundtree. Being someone working as a graphic designer for a music production and sound design company myself I found this article most appropriate for this blog. Now I ask you, where do you think it should be going? where are the risk takers? or is it the way clients are looking at this current trend with a ‘I it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ attitude?

I guess this is a promotional piece for a new Wario themed game for the Nintendo Wii on YouTube (Sorry dont know who to praise for this great idea!!) As you may notice from the image, it’s all gone a bit a crazy! I wont ruin all of the fun, so check it out and experience a YouTube video with a difference here!

Michael C. Place, otherwise known as Build, has created work to promote a new Pritt correction roller called MyStyle. He designed and produced an original handpainted artwork which he creates in this longer version of the Build Pritt Ad TV commercial. Click here to watch the complete movie.
Shout out to Computer Love for bringing this to my attention!
Came across a this website (Very much FFFFound! like) but still worth a dip into if you are one of the many who like a peek a what is out there! Check it out here.

Another well executed promotion by Channel 4 Creative for the Stanley Kubrick season which will consist of a ten day film festival of the directors work via More4.
“This stunning promo was shot in one long take, and is a look behind the scences of Kubrick’s 1980 film The Shining, all from the perspective of the director himself.” – Idents

We’ve all been there, whether it have been in the creative field or the giant supermarket down the road, but we all know the feeling too well. This campaign created by Scholz & Friends, Berlin, brought a humorous yet painfully true call for people that are in the wrong job in their life. I am sure there are many more posters relating to this campaign but for the time being I only have two to show for it.
