Ah, I See You’ve Played Knifey-Spoony Before!

Good, long-lasting logos are embedded into our memory banks everyday, from FedEx to Mcdonalds or Google to BBC. If you reckon yourself to be a brand identity wizz kid you can test yourself against this iphone & ipod Touch app – Guess The Logo.

From the initial screens of the game this doesn’t look like the ridiculously easy logo test that was expected. You have got to know the logo down to the last serif and kern. Release that branding nerd inside of you!

Peep Tweet

If you are a fan of Channel 4’s Peep Show and also a frequent user of the internet mini blog application ‘Twitter’ then this should be right up your street. As part of an experiment the people that bring you the hilarious and freakishly realistic lives of ‘Mark Corrigan’ and ‘Jez Osbourne’ have created Twitter profiles for each main character from the much loved show.

You can catch all the tweets of each character and follow their conversations as part of a clever, well executed campaign. The chats come across very well as the fictional characters and could be part of a build for a new series.

To learn more about the experiment you can follow the Peep Show Twitter, or alternatively jump straight into the fun and start following all the characters (works best follwing all of them). Mark, Jez, SuperHans, Sophie, Johnson, Nancy, Big Suze and Dobby.

DIY Serif

Right, A few posts needing to get through tonight. Think you will find these sites pretty cool, each for different reasons. Firstly is the Fontstruct site that lets you create you own bespoke typeface online! There is a vast amount of different shapes for you to play with (maybe in time there will be alot more to keep the longevity up) and you can create your whole alphabet, whether it Latin, Georgian or Thai.

I would really suggest giving it ago, even if you aren’t a typographer or even a designer, I can see people enjoying this during some down time or on that Friday afternoon.

iWant iNeed iGot

Ok, after holding out for as long as possible, creating too many pros and cons lists within my mind, ifs and buts the inevitable happened and I am officially an iphone owner. I have to admit it is a pretty nifty piece of kit and over the first couple of days of owning it I couldn’t put it down and concentrate on my work, even after trying and testing the iphones on display in the many apple stores visited in which ever city I was in I was never too sure how I would get on with the typing method but I must say it has just come natural ever since I opened the packaging.

There are however the down points to the iphone that restrict the user to certain basic tasks but hopefully they will pull their socks up and sort it out, I won’t bother running a list but instead I will point in the direction of a good site that iphone users can offer the preferences to what they think Apple should change, and if the site administrators are true to their word then Apple have actually listened and made numerous alterations and updates since the release. Check out Please fix the iphone, and hopefully some of these basic requests can be listened to and followed up.

Here’s to many happy iphone days!

Brand New Day

We all know how much brands play a part of our daily routines but I came across this funny and true time line of the volume of brands we use and by pass in just one day. Jane, who is an advertising account executive, put this quirky document together. My curiosity is tingling to follow her lead and create my own – minus the make-up brands!
