If you have not been able to make the recent D&AD President Lectures that have recently started you are in luck. As the people behind the scenes have kindly uploaded the Q&A sections from the lectures that have been and gone so far via the D&AD Vimeo page.

Thursday is nearly upon us! Nearly another week over and another To-Do list scribbled out (almost!). But this post is not intended to be about work it’s about what you could be doing after work, if you are one of the lucky people that can get out of work before 8PM.
Well, I was meant to be attending the D&AD ‘Everyone Starts Somewhere’ talk at the Slaughtered Lamb in London, but no, no more room for me. So instead I came across this little gem today, at Selfridges on Thursday Kid Robot will be invading the Wonder Room with the special store-gallery UK Invasion! There will be many great designers and illustrators there such ilovedust and Jon Burgerman.

Earlier I was told that today was the most depressing day of the year (hence why it was so quiet at work)… I’m not too sure how true that was although my alarm didn’t wake me up in time, the Northern line was at it’s worst yet since I started living in London and I did have walk through the rain this morning. But now everything has changed thanks to the ever faithful SwissMiss blog. At first I thought this was for something else but I won’t spoil it for you, this was filmed at 11am on Thursday 15th January 2009 at Liverpool Street station, London.
No where near my work.

Great website that showcases a collection of the 1972 Munich Olympics work by Otl Aicher. From brochures to tickets, it is an in depth gallery of how far Aichers work was used to package such a prestigious event.

As disappointed as I am already that England are not in the Euros this year it has just got worse after coming across these great t-shirt designs of the 16 teams that began the finals of the tournament. Designed by Steve Rura, I guess I will just have to wait and hold my breath till the World Cup 2010 to see if we get to see any England t-shirts of this quality!

If you don’t know about this Graphic Design Museum already…well…here you go! On Wednesday 11 June 2008 Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands opened the Graphic Design Museum, (Breda, The Netherlands) the world’s first museum for graphic design. You can check out the website here. Thanks to Swiss Legacy for the know how.

There will be a group exhibition for the benefit of our planets most endangered wildlife.

Helvetica poster by Michael C. Place. If you either love it or hate it I would strongly recommend to watch the film.A great insight to one of the big turning points in graphic design with many interesting views on how the typeface has become so dominant with everyday life.
